gaiwan

The gaiwan, or "lidded bowl," originated from the Ming Dynasty as an elegant solution for tea preparation. Beautiful in its simplicity and design, the gaiwan has long been recognized as the preferred vessel for tea preparation throughout China. Using the gaiwan method, tea is steeped directly in the cup and decanted into separate serving cups using the lid to hold back the tea leaves. Tea can also be enjoyed straight from the gaiwan, demonstrating its versatility and functionality.
